Planning is gold.

Oftentimes, web designers neglect to put the necessary energy into site planning. Planning is just as crucial for web design as blueprints are for architectural design. It is a good idea to begin with the site's objectives.

Consider all parties involved.

All members of the project must be on the same page. Misaligned members can create skewed results. There is no need to over-plan, but under-planning can create problems. Effective communication is key.

Site maps keep the site organized.

Once the objectives are determined for the site, the sitemap should be organized. This includes incorporating process flows and user paths. If a site seems too complex to create one sitemap for, it should be broken into smaller sections.
